About
I was born in Singapore to Indian parents—one from the North, one from the South. So, yes, I grew up with two very different worlds at the dinner table! I spent my childhood in Singapore, but at 22, I felt the call to adventure and moved to Melbourne, Australia. There, I traded chicken rice for meat pies, barbecue and in the meantime, managed to earn my degree in Nursing Science and later a post-grad in Healthcare Management.

But here’s the twist—my path didn’t stop at nursing. Somewhere along the line, I discovered a passion for the human voice. I dived headfirst into voice acting and trained professionally under the legendary Roger Love, Chris Nolan (not the director!), and Alexandra Whitham with a particular focus on the Kristin Linklater Method.

Now, about my accent. People often ask, “Where’s that accent from?” The fun part is—it’s from everywhere and yet nowhere. It’s clear, easy to understand, and doesn’t belong to any one place, which makes it strangely universal. I like to think of it as an accent that knows no boundaries but transcends them all. People say I sound British, like Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Attenborough, God, and sometimes even the devil all put together.

For the past 15 years, I’ve worked as a Registered Nurse. If you’ve ever been in a hospital, you know that a nurse’s voice can do a lot—it can comfort, instruct, calm, or energize. I’ve used my voice and body every single day to connect with patients and colleagues, shaping my communication to whatever the moment demanded. And now, I bring those 15 years of training and connection to the microphone, turning care into craft.

Of course, voice isn’t my only love. Music grabbed me early. At 10, I started training in the Indian classical tabla. Then I wandered into the world of percussion, Latin congas, drums, operatic vocals, and finally, the acoustic guitar. Every beat, every note taught me about rhythm, timing, and feel. Today, I blend that musical ear into my voice work—carefully pairing voice with music, paying attention to detail, and always aiming to deliver something exceptional with every production.

I've recently (2025) narrated and produced my first audiobook which is on Audible and Everand. Yup I can sort your audiobook from start to end ready for ACX uploading. I also run a little corner of the internet called DanielAvinashVOIX on YouTube. There, I narrate poems, children’s stories, and other works as a way of preserving their beauty. My goal? To make sure future generations can still hear and enjoy them the way they were meant to be experienced—spoken and alive. I also run a small voice and speech coaching business called Speak Like A Pro where I teach my specially designed SPHERE™ Method which comprises of articulation, vocal freedom, breath work, posture, and presence.

And when I’m not performing or teaching, you’ll find me right here in Melbourne with my amazing wife, Amila, and our two wonderful kids, Zephora and Zephaniah—who, by the way, keep me on my toes far more than any stage or studio ever could.
